Illustrious Sir, Illustrious Sirs, Members of the Divan, Nobles All,

I would like to address the crucial topic of change and adaptation within our Noble organization.

The old adage goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." This timeless wisdom has guided countless individuals and organizations throughout history, and it holds a significant truth. However, it is imperative to recognize that change is indeed a constant. We live in a world that is evolving at an unprecedented pace, and we must adapt and embrace change to progress and thrive.

The positive growth in Shriners International membership for the first time in 30 years is a testament to our collective willingness to adapt and evolve. We have faced the challenges of the modern era with resilience and determination, and as a result, we are witnessing the promising resurgence of our esteemed organization.

Acknowledging the necessity of change is not enough; we must actively embody and enact it. Each of us plays a crucial role in shaping the future of Our Temple Habibi, and it is through our collective efforts and unity that we will continue to flourish and uphold the noble principles of our organization.

However, it is important to remember that change should not be implemented for its own sake. We must carefully assess the potential impact of any proposed changes and ensure that they align with our core values and traditions. As we navigate the ever-evolving landscape of the modern world, let us remain steadfast in our commitment to preserving the Fraternity's timeless essence while embracing the necessary adaptations for its continued vitality.

In conclusion, let us continue to foster a culture of adaptability and growth within our organization, recognizing that change is not only inevitable but also essential for our collective success. Together, as Nobles of Habibi Shrine, we can navigate the tides of change and emerge stronger, more united, and better equipped to uphold the cherished legacy of our esteemed institution.

Habibi Forever!

Thank you, and until next time,

Craig Manuel

Illustrious Sir, Illustrious Sirs, Members of the Divan, Nobles All,

Perception and perspective are two distinct ways we interpret the world around us. It shapes how we see and interact with the world but can also lead to disagreements and misunderstandings when we try to impose our perceptions on others.

Perspective involves stepping outside of our own viewpoint to consider how others perceive and experience the world. It requires the ability to empathize and see things from different angles, like imagining oneself in someone else's shoes or understanding the perspective of a child in the care of Shriners.

As Shriners, it's important for us to embrace new perspectives beyond our limited viewpoints. This helps us become more empathetic, understanding, and compassionate, enriching our lives and promoting greater harmony and connection within our fraternity.

Shifting from perception to perspective helps us overcome biases and understand diverse experiences. It emphasizes empathy and the potential for positive change with a broader worldview.

Habibi Forever!

Thank you, and until next time,

Craig Manuel

Illustrious Sir, Illustrious Sirs, Members of the Divan, Nobles All,

We are excited to announce that we are actively seeking partnerships with local companies interested in joining us to help with our fundraising efforts. If you know any businesses that may find this opportunity appealing, please do not hesitate to contact our office.

In addition to seeking partnerships, we have fantastic sponsorship opportunities for our upcoming events—a golf tournament and a circus. We are looking for sponsors to purchase signs for the golf tournament and place ads in our coloring books for the circus. Your support would tremendously impact our cause, and we are incredibly grateful.

As a friendly reminder, our concert series is taking place this week and next. We encourage you to come out, enjoy the music, and show your support for our fundraiser. We'll have food trucks on-site and a cornhole tournament for some friendly competition.

Looking further ahead, mark your calendars for our September Gumbo Chili Cookoff. This promises to be a delicious event in support of a great cause.

We are also overjoyed to announce the Habibi Shriner's Jamboree, a football fundraiser where four teams compete for trophies and bragging rights. Watch for more details; it will be a day filled with fun and excitement.

Last but certainly not least, we cordially invite you to our 50th anniversary celebration. Please save the date and join us for this special occasion. The entry fee will be $35, and we look forward to celebrating this milestone with you.

Habibi Forever!

Thank you, and until next time,

Illustrious Sir, Illustrious Sirs, Members of the Divan, Nobles All,

Our fundraising efforts are gaining momentum, and we have some incredible partnerships taking shape. Bolton Ford is considering sponsoring our motor corp, which will provide substantial support and visibility for our initiatives.

Darrell’s Sandwiches and Raising Canes have expressed their enthusiasm for supporting our cause and are also interested in partnering with us on fundraising initiatives. Their commitment will bring fresh energy and significant backing to our events.

We are also engaging a marketing firm to enhance our event promotions and exploring a partnership with McNeese University to bring a marketing intern to the Office.

Additionally, we are in discussions with Team Citgo to assist with manpower for our upcoming Moto Circus. Their past support at our Circus events at the Civic Center in Lake Charles has been invaluable, and their continued involvement will be a tremendous asset.

Moreover, I proudly announce that Habibi Shrine continues its rich tradition of hosting Mardi Gras Krewes. Since Hurricane Laura, four Krewes have committed to holding their events at Habibi:

  • The Krewe De L’Amitie

  • The Krewe Du’ Couillon’

  • The Krewe Da’ La’ Bouicaners’

  • The Krewe De’ L’Ecore

These new collaborations and commitments highlight our community's resilience and spirit.

Your ongoing support is the driving force behind our success. Together, with these new partnerships and renewed energy, we are poised to achieve even greater heights.

Habibi Forever!

Thank you, and until next time,

Illustrious Sir, Illustrious Sirs, Members of the Divan, Nobles All,

"Habibi," which means "sweetheart" in English, perfectly captures the essence of our Temple’s Sweetheart Dinner on Valentine’s Day. In Arabic, it represents your greatest love—what you hold most dear, the one for whom you would sacrifice everything. Your Habibi embodies the commitment and devotion you cherish.

As we commemorate 50 years as a Temple, we celebrate our shared Habibi. We honor the sacrifices made, the resources invested, and the hard work that has shaped our community. We cherish the love bestowed upon us by the thousands who have walked through our doors and pay tribute to the nobles who have fought tirelessly for our cause.

Habibi was present when Shriners broke ground in Galveston, Sacramento, Tampa, and Mexico City. We still have the shovels!

The Old S.W. Shrine Club of Lake Charles, originally known as the “Attakkapas Shrine Club” of El Karubah, was responsible for establishing the Makkah Corporation. Over eight years, they created a new Temple named Habibi, chartered by El Mina Temple in Galveston. At its peak, Habibi boasted over 2,000 members, and we celebrate the legacy of the only Imperial Potentate ever elected from Louisiana, who emerged from Habibi.

As we reflect on our glorious past, we eagerly anticipate the next 50 years. This year at the Imperial Session in Reno, we witnessed the establishment of Shrine Temples in Australia, expanding our reach as Shrines International now has a presence on all seven continents.

By 2035, Shriners Hospitals will expand into Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, allowing us to provide specialized pediatric healthcare to more kids in more places than ever before.

Whatever storms we face in the future, we will face them together, and the fruit borne from the labor of love we give will support the world's greatest philanthropy: Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Thank you, and until next time,

 Craig Manuel
